I get so wild on my motorbike

I feel so quick in my leather boots
My mood is black when my jacket's on
I cut the road like a sharpened knife
I'm breaking loose on this moonlit night
There's nothing else but me
And an empty road

And a cool cool wind
It makes me feel so good

Just like I knew it would

used sump oil, steel
dimensions variable

in 20:50 , the gallery is filled to waist height with recycled engine oil, from which the piece takes its name . a walkway leads from a single entrance , leading the viewer into the space until they are surrounded by oil on all sides . the seemingly impenetrable surface of the oil mirrors the architecture of the room exactly , placing the viewer at the mid - point of a symmetrical visual plane .

apparently this gentlemen travels the world buying all the great vintage items ( frames , books , fixtures etc ) that you find decorating ralph lauren's stores . to me , that is almost as romantic a job as being a famous artist .

there will be blood

probably should have won the oscar , an all around great film .
but one of its overlooked strengths
is the amazing menswear :

father & son

attention to detail

those boots !

any movie where the main character carries around a moleskine in his back pocket & drinks whiskey out of a flask is a must see in my book .

for fourteen years theo jansen has been working on creating a new life - form . these creatures consist of walking skeletons made out of yellow electricity tubes . these skeletons are wind powered . over the years an evolution has occurred , which can be seen in the succeeding generations . eventually he wants to put these animals on the beach where they will lead their own lives . more here .

hemingway

i found this sentence on march 10th on an airplane in a book by ernest hemingway

i remember the trails up through the orchards & the fields of the hillside farms above the village & the warm farm houses with their great stoves & huge wood piles in the snow

&

i remember the smell of the pines & the sleeping on the mattresses of beech leaves in the woodcutters' huts & the skiing through the forest following the tracks of hares & of foxes

i like rereading these sentences because of their relation to memory & their simple but slightly awkward structure

gallery day in le marais

spent today walking around galleries in le marais in paris.
made a map of all the places i wanted to see beforehand so that i could have an efficient route.
some places i didn't get to.
also discovered some new places that i have since added to the map.

---

olivier severe at galerie baumet sultana.
not a very interesting show, but this was worth photographing.

---

olivier babin at galerie frank elbaz
i liked this show, it is called tout sur le noir
in the foreground are tied stacks of folded black garbage bags,
in the back are egg crates painted black with black eggs,
and those canvases say things like "from time to time" , "out of time" , "kill time."

---

printed matter by joachim schmid at galerie alain gutharc
i liked these collages, half one head half another, reminded me of yearbook photos

---

the center piece at the david renaud show at galerie anne barrault was probably my favorite thing i saw all day,
but i obviously didnt get a picture, so im stealing this one from the gallery's website

its two painted wooden sculptures of mountains, built in layers like a topographic map.
heres a close up, also from the gallery's website

---

this is a photo i took outside while i was talking on the phone

---

this is the entry courtyard of galerie emmanuel perrotin. what a great space !

they actually have two spaces, another around the corner

---

another great space is galerie karsten greve, but i liked this one less than emmanuel perrotin

a louis bourgeois drawing at galerie karsten greve

---

galerie thaddaeus ropac is a good gallery too.
they're having a georg baselitz show,
and i think they may have had one of the paintings
that i saw at the georg baselitz show in november
with claire at gagosian gallery in new york

the staircase at galerie thaddaeus ropac. you cant tell from this photo, but there is about an inch between where the second floor ends & the staircase starts. i put my toes in the gap, it was cool.

---

the door of galerie pierre-alain challier has no doorknob, & you need to buzz & look into a video camera to get in. intimidating. looking at these photos i realize that the lighting was bad & i didnt love their show, but for some reason i still took a bunch of photos.

another staircase

wire chair

---

tools galerie only shows furniture i think.
this table mirror cast a nice reflection on the wall that you cant see in the photo.

yarn chair

---

galerie almine rech had a show of taryn simon photos called an american index of the hidden & unfamiliar that i really like & have seen before

this was the caption to one of the photos. i thought it was funny because my power animal is a white tiger.

this was upstairs
